MattyCollector transition to Super7

No, you’re right. I apologize to the Buddhist “race,” and also the Protestant “race” and the Baptist “race,” just in case. It was totally offensive for me to assume that “Mr. Freeze” was an imposter Buddhist monk because he keeps telling me to be Zen.

BTW, I did stop. You had the last post. Then you made an additional last post accusing me of racism, so I thought I should clarify and now apologize, too, to all the religious “races.”

Okay, it’s all yours now.

Don’t drink the Kool Aide. These two are just trying to clean up the mess they made earlier this weekend so they can stay in Mattels good graces. TC are dead.

Well Mr. Dan is suppose to have built up a lot of credibility over the years. Why would he imply something if it was not they case?

you didn’t leave it tho did you because you kept editing a previous post with your smart arse remarks and quickly changed it .

you said the zen thing first by the way . and it was you who had the issue in the first place not me .

ok don

I don’t want to have to lock this thread or delete/move a bunch of posts elsewhere, and I really don’t want to have to start monitoring this thread like a hawk to see who the instigators are, because gathering evidence to ban people is the worst.

The personal bickering stops now. If some fans are being pessimists or seem especially emotional, leave them be. If cockeyed optimists bother you, keep it to yourself. Let’s stick to sane discussion and conjecture surrounding the facts on the ground, and leave the ad hominem attacks and flame warring to PMs. Please.

I’m so confused by the conversation string. Are the Thundercats practicing Buddhists?

I would say definitely not Tygra.

Good to hear some info direct from the source. Shame they couldn’t have done something like this the day the news dropped. Its all well and good saying people shouldn’t jump the gun, but when you have a lot of passion and cash tied up in the future of a line, it’s nice to be kept in the loop.

I believe ThunderCats will continue somehow.

Pop! Funko and Minimates TC toys were sold in retail, as were the numerous statues. Companies like NECA make action figures based on old and forgotten TV shows and movies, even when there’s no huge demand for them. For Mattel, there’s no need to even retail the toys in toy stores. Why doesn’t Mattel, like any sane toy company, just sell the toys online in their own website? Mezco does it with their TC line.

As opposed to the dozens of figures you get each year via the subscription method???

I think you don’t know how figures are made industrially. Mattel and 4H use the same buck for the prototypes. The final toy, whether it is made from a re-used buck or a completely different sculpt, will HAVE to have a new mold of it made.

The Mattel Panthro and Lion-O, despite utilizing the same buck, will both require their own molds to be made. You surely don’t think that they will make both of those from the same mold do you? So Mattel will incur the same amount of cost to make molds whether it uses the same buck or a different sculpt. So why not go for the latter? Simple answer, laziness on the part of the sculptors, who, rather than doing actual sculpting, are pretty much are doing “customizing” on the same buck.

If you prefer the subscription method that is cool. If you feel grateful to Mattel, that is also cool. Like you said, “to each his own”. But I cannot agree with your implication that the subscription method is the “right” way to go. It isn’t, unless you are Mattel, and are so afraid that if even one toy remains unsold, your stocks will plummet.

The subscription method is nothing more than a way for Mattel to cover their behinds. There is a reason why none of the other big toy companies use this method. It drastically reduces the buyers. It is only for people who are REALLY crazy for TC toys and who have bigger pockets than the average Joe.

ThunderCats will continue, and I am sure they will put in the effort to get the licence sorted so they can continue the Classics line and do a retro line later on as well … so for now I think we can be optimistic, but we will have to be patient. I suggest we make sure as fans that if Super7 read these forums they get the info they need to know what the fans want and what not! We also need to try and get an open channel to Super7 so that if we put together a Q&A we can get answers when the time comes. So I don’t know who is with me on this, but I feel we as fans can help make this line what it should be!

There is a petition to keep the TC line going. No harm in signing it folks. I’m super happy by the interview with Brian. Nice guy and good to know he wanted the license too. Personally I think we’ll only see the 2017 line late next year or early 2018. I don’t mind waiting as long as it comes!

Exactly.

If Mattel had faith in their products they could at least release all 6 figures or whatever at once and have them only available for sale through their site instead of the one a month subscription method.

The DC Collectibles Batman TAS line is based on a 20+ year old cartoon and available at comic shops etc. Every figure in it has a unique sculpt accurate to the animation model.
So I don’t understand why a similar company could not do the same for the Thundercats.

I signed this petition purely for the fact that with Super 7 in charge they are bound to do a better job than Mattel.

Do it now! I never seen so many grown people worked up over a child’s fantasy in ThunderCats, that leads to insulting other people to the bone! It’s quite disgusting to be honest.

They’re real serious issues in the world and we need to love each other to survive, so please some people stop drinking the “Mumm-Ra Juice” LoL

I’m not going to go point for point and pick apart your post but everything you wrote is completely false and shows how collectors are just misinformed or try to project how they want things to be done vs what the reality of the situation is. EVERY toy line utilizes shared parts in the figures they make. It keeps costs low and keeps the final cost to consumers lower as well. Every figure does not have their own molds. The Bucks, arms, legs, hands, etc molds are reused for each figure. Each piece is its owns mold and the pieces are cast and then assembled. There are figures that need a lot of new tooling and require new molds but then there are figures that use a lot of the shared parts which help to balance out the costs of the new tooling for the overall line. I think you have this idea that a mold is of a complete figure and plastic is poured into it then Shazam!! a finished figure pops out.

Before you pick part her points I strongly suggest you re-read her post carefully.
What she said was they should actually sculpt the parts correctly instead of having all the new parts be done on the standard MOTUC buck parts.
I know this might be hard for you to believe but the standard MOTUC buck body parts just do not look right for certain characters.

I think everyone gets how molds work and bits that are re-used use the existing mold and new parts require a new one. Based on what we’ve seen of the likes of Panthro there have been mostly new molds made. Had they wanted to go with a less motuc style buck and make all new parts, I’m sure they would soon have had enough generic bits to reuse across the line. Joints, hands, shoulders and whatnot. Parts they already had from motuc may well have fit in scale with a more scale accurate set of figures. The main thing it comes down to is that they made the figures this way to appeal to existing motuc subscribers.

I know exactly what she was trying to say. You guys are picking apart a Thundercats line made by Mattel to fit into the classics line and pair with the MOTUC figures expecting it to not look like it fits into the classics line. I get it, you want an independent T-cats line that is 100% toon accurate. Which I agree would be cool but that’s not what is being offered now and frankly I like them fitting in with classics. Maybe one day we will get the super toon accurate line you want but we will be paying $60-$80 per figure for sure. As for the comparison to Batman TAS, the sculpts are not all unique and share quite a few parts. The toon designs are rather basic and likeness easy to capture. The figures are great no doubt, but the overall quality is comparable to classics. Complete with their own QC issues

I like that one - the “Mumm-Ra Juice” :mummra :roflmao:roflmao:roflmao:roflmao
