The way I see it…we were all waiting to see something new revealed…Jaga, Grune…etc…it is “disappointing” to my inpatient brain that nothing new was revealed…but realistically they still have several months for this to be out…so just because nothing new was shown today doesn’t mean new things great figures arent in the works. It just means production was ready for them this weekend. To me its pretty obvious those are resin statues and look a bit rough and not as smooth as the final will look. Im still beyond thrilled for this line…will collect everything…and no doubt there will be some jaw dropping amazing figures in this line…
It definitely feels like a battle of wills going on. 
They look better than the pictures, even though whoever set up the MOTU and TCats display’s doesn’t seem to have much of a clue. I’m surprised the prototypes got so messed up, they usually have small issues, but you would think they know how to transport them properly by now.
They all look perfect to me. Pumyra’s face looks much better in the pictures, and I’m happy they have slits on the side of the skirt for posing. The Totem of Dera is a cool surprise, and Mumm-ra has the Sword of Plunn-dar handle. Cannot wait for these.
One surprise figure would have been nice, but obviously they are running s bit behind with things.
I agree, the negativity is surprising. Maybe it’s because I’ve waiting decades to have these characters, maybe it’s because I just turned 40, but I just can’t be displeased with what I’m seeing. I think they all look amazing. I’d have loved to see a little tease of something more than what we’ve already been shown, but I am a patient man. SDCC will be here before we know it!

Some criticism is fine and can be a good thing, but it’s also nice to focus on things that are good too. Some just like to complain ad nauseum.

OK, so for those who are pro-Mattel, explain to me how this display should change my mind about not signing up. What did we see? A bunch of unfinished prototypes of characters we already knew about. The level of detail is mediocre at best. For those of us who are a Tygra away from owning the main cast of Mezco figures this display was a fail.
What did you expect to see? Something for next year when the sub for this year hasn’t even begun yet. The figures look just as good as they’ve looked in all the promo shots. Sure we would all like to see new stuff but I’d rather not see some stuff that is so early in concept that will likely change in the year or so before it comes to production. I can handle waiting until SDCC to see more. If what you saw so far hasn’t gotten you excited for the line then I don’t think anything would sway you anyway.

Just watched the Mattel Display video and wow..those figures look AMAZING…the pics dont do justice to how cool they looked in the video. the liono looks impressive…CANT WAIT TO OWN IT!!!..and seeing the totem of dera and sword of plundar handle…OMG…to me this shows that Mattel is putting the R&D because the totem of dera was featured in one episode and I believe was mentioned maybe a couple of times more…what a hidden gem for fans. ill be drooling when i see a transformed mummra with an awesome red came and a glorious sword of plundarr!!!

Personally, I don’t see what’s so great about them. Mezco got some criticizing on show accuracy but I don’t see how Mattel is any closer.

No one is here to convince anyone to buy anything, or to defend one toy company over another. I’m here for the toys of Thundercats made by the Horsemen, I don’t care which company makes them. Man, the self-importance of some people.

I said I would reserve my comments for after Toy Fair, and I must say I am a little bit disappointed. Not so much in the figures we saw, but more in the figures we didn’t see.
I was really hoping for a full set of 2016 figures (pity about Panthro) and some packaging! and at least one teaser like Jaga or Grune … really really sorry we didn’t get to see those! But all sounds well if you watch the Pixel-Dan walk through … so I guess we will just have to be more patient! I suggest they post some more shots of Panthro from more angles seeing they couldn’t display him (wink wink Mattel!!) .. at least we can look forward to an exclusive for this year as well!

I saw no one complaining about that. I thought Pumyra had battle damage, and someone else explained that it was paint chipping and that was pretty much the end of it.
What was complained about was that Matty was acting like we’d see new versions of these figures (“final forms” and all that), but they’re the exact same figures we’ve already seen pictures of.
I agree with Joa-O; if you dont like it, that’s fine. Dont buy them, dont sub. Simple, no need to go on and on about it. I think the MezCo figures are great. And I think the Mattel figures look great. You dont. Move on.

Perhaps I’m a bit bias towards the new Mattel line, probably because I’ve been dying to get this sort of action figure since Bandai came out with their classic-style line, and probably because I loved the MOTUC line despite not owning it - what worries me is that Mattel also read these boards, and with all this negativity thrown around, it might actually put them off from TC-fans. Why? Because instead of being grateful that there is a new line, the opinions on this board is becoming more of an attack on them (calling them thieves / sharks / shady etc) than civilized critique on the toyline. Ironically, like some mentioned, the line has not yet been released, and yes, I agree, there was quite the hype before NYTF that we’ll be seeing “new” figures or “near-final-form” figures and we were let down by not only not seeing Panthro (understand why) but also not seeing anything else - not even a sketch of the unproduced figures. So like a bunch of you, I’m also disappointed, but that will not for one second let me doubt this line, just the marketing tactics and perhaps “empty promises” that got us all excited for nothing. May I suggest that we open a separate board for fans (yes, I said it ) that wish to critique the line and raise their concerns and dislikes about the new line? On that note, we can also open a board for those wishing to compliment and praise the new line. Maybe folk on here are a tad too sensitive, but my worry is what will Mattel think of us talking so negatively about the line even before it was made available. I just hope they won’t be put off by this and cancel the line after year 1 because somebody doesn’t want it. There are others out there that want it like me. I don’t badmouth the Mezco line, in fact, I think some of the latter figures are quite cool, but others like Lion-O just look odd to me, and also because they’re so BIG, I won’t be buying them, but I’m thrilled it’s continuing (or at least, now that Tygra is available soon). Who knows, maybe the Mattel line will improve the Mezco line’s sales by creating more awareness (and the other way round). That’s my 2 cents.

Agreed, I hope so too. But if it doesn’t happen, then I think it might become available as an accessory later on! It’s so cool to see the Totem of Dera with Pumyra. I really hope that the other figures might get items like The Boom of Omens, Chain of Loyalty, etc as little ad ons.
I also hope that the SDCC exclusive will be a Red Lion-O. That would perhaps be the easiest product for them to do without worrying about critique on it after releasing it. Not that I would mind ANY other figure (hint Mandora!! Pumm-Ra!! Jagara!! Chilla!! Mattel take note…) at SDCC. I think perhaps Wilycub should send his artwork to them seeing as his digital sculps of some unmade figures were fabulous and spot on

I also tend to agree … I bought MOTUC for 7 years (still going) and Mattel have been ripped apart by He-man fans …
So yes unfortunately there is good with every bad and vice versa … remember this board is a very very small drop in the TC sale bucket!

If you owned MOTUC (or some Mattel figures in general) you would really understand why some people, regardless of how much they love Thundercats, are not over excited at them making Classics figures.
The Classics line should be done right and be it’s own line rather than a MOTUC spin off. Most notably they figures should have a better buck body with better articulation compared to the standard dated MOTUC body.
I might still pick up some characters but I am not sure. If this line had come out 3-5 years ago things would be different…regardless of how much I dislike the subscription method and monthly releases. I don’t like these enough to say I can support the line. Financially I could…but interest wise I cannot as other things interest me far more.
Mattel really should have got the licence in 2010 rather than let it go to Bandai.
