Why does this prove that the line is cancelled?? It’s a review and the reviewer makes a comment that it sucks that the line got cancelled. Yet the 4HM and Super7 have both said that they are actively trying to get the license. I tend to go with the remarks from the people that would make the toys rather than a reviewer that likely started writing this review last week when news first broke. In Pixel Dan’s interview with Brian Flynn, he even says that he almost had the license for TC originally but Mattel scooped it out from under him.

One big difference between MOTUC and Third Party Transformers is that the factory Mattel uses also produces numerous other Mattel toys not just MOTUC therefore reducing the cost.
I had the notion the Mattel Thundercats classic sold put pretty fast and the sales went very good, now what happened and this line is cancelled
??? At least t he Lion-O, Pantho and Mummra are still coming out.
Any idea if the shut down will affect their release as well??
For one thing, we don’t know whether Mattel’s boy’s division overlaps, business-wise, with its collector’s division (or whether they operate as separate entities), and how that affects (or doesn’t) business with the factories. There are a lot of missing facts in that statement, and some big assumptions.
What we do know, however, is that Mattycollector operated on a limited budget (compared to the boy’s division), and MOTUC figures had low production runs relative to mass-produced Mattel toys.
Which is why I think that continuing to nitpick at the differences between third-party TFs and MOTUC, especially with unsupported assumptions, is missing the forest for the trees. (The actual main point’s already been stated by me and others up above.)
Anyway, this conversation’s gotten a bit too circular for me.
Speaking of Third Party Transformers, I am kind of surprised no Third Party company is making MOTU or Thundercats. They could probably make some amazing figures, but I suppose they don’t want touching failed brands that can’t survive at retail.

Those don’t exactly count. They are not a standalone series. Just part of a bigger series.
It doesn’t capture the look or feel of the show (in a purist sense). POP!s are just novelty items. I did not wait 30 years to collect those guys! :biggrin
For a moment in time you could get the set for $45-$50.
Probably a different topic, but what exactly is the appeal of these?

I know they’re just novelty figures but that mumm-ra figure it ADORABLE! I was looking all over the mall for him the other day!
Good luck finding one. You might be better off looking online for Mumm-Ra.

I don’t think that is going to happen any time soon. It wasn’t very popular and if they chose to do that I don’t think many people will buy them.
I wish some other company would buy Thundercats from WB.
