I’m not believing a “some random person overheard someone talking about this” rumor.
If they were really canceling the line and didn’t want anyone to know about it, they wouldn’t be talking about it in the middle of a convention where they know anyone and their mother could overhear them.
Right, the overheard talk rumor isn’t getting me concerned.
But the SDCC exclusive being at another toy company’s booth is something to ponder about. I know companies partner up during events and share booths. Also Funko collaborated with Super7 for their Alien figures, which led Funko to eventually create their own ReAction line.
Mattel already has an exclusive subscription program for their customers, so seems odd to have their first product from a new line at another company.
Maybe it’s just something simple like Super7 will be selling them instead of Mattel.
Super7 did release some MOTU products last and this year.

Yeah I am hoping it’s something similar. But Super7 acquired the license from Mattel to create those mini figures. It’s a Super7 product.
These ThunderKittens are made my Mattel, it’s a Mattel product being sold at Super7.
It is very confusing. I guess all of you who subscribed and want them will just have to wait and see what is said at SDCC.
The whole thing does seem a bit odd, but who knows. It sounds like there won’t be much of anything Matty related at SDCC, so I don’t even know if we’ll hear anything then. I just wish they’d be forthcoming about it, but if they did, no one would probably buy the Thunderkittens and plenty of people would cancel their credit card to avoid paying for the sub figures (myself possibly included). At any rate, I’m expressing my interest in a continuing line on all of Mattel’s social media and email.

Or Netflix. I’m actually super freaking excited to see how the new Voltron is going to turn out tomorrow.

Haha I was only half kidding! Heck I’d kick in some $$ to get the license over to the Horsemen! But somehow I imagine we’re talking about a lot of money needed! FYI - the Matty forums are now back up. You have to re-set your password, but you can post. I posted very nicely asking for info on whether or not the line will go on. I’m not holding my breath for an answer, but hey who knows. If nothing else I was able to express my desire for the line to continue somewhere other than FB/Twitter.
They’ve said there will be toys, but I’ve heard no word on what company is going to make them or when they’ll be coming.
They said they teamed up with Playmates toys. but zero word on anything else.
I am really excited for the new series also. Hopefully it does a lot better than Voltron Force from a few years ago.
Playmates have got the master toy licence and should have some merchandise on show at SDCC.
Toynami are still producing Voltron merchandise and have a new Voltron coming out later this year and it looks amazing…but it’s about $400.

Playmates have done a pretty crap job with the TMNT.
The Classics line didn’t do great, I would have liked them to have made more figures, but the fact is the figures they made for the Classics line were excellent and some of the best TMNT figures ever made. NECA will have a hard job beating them. But the modern line Playmates have done for the new cartoon has been excellent. Even the movie toys look good…but I can’t comment on them as I don’t own any of them.
I have my doubts about Playmates. They really botched up the Classics line and the Movie Turtles line. The Bebop and Rocksteady were good but not toon accurate. Shredder and Krang prototypes had a lot of promise but were scrapped in favor of the abysmal Movie Turtles line (Pixel Dan reviewed them and stated that they are good representations of the ninja turtles but not movie accurate in any way). The toys based on the show are good but that’s because the new cartoon employs a very simplistic art style to begin with. I wish the Figuarts TMNT toys were half the price.
The bad thing about playmates is even when they have decent sculpts they tend to miss paint apps and have strange points of articulation. Also they don’t know the meaning of the word “scale.”
Sadly accuracy is a problem a lot of toylines suffer. MOTU Classics and Masterpiece Transformers have the same problem. Do they be accurate to the cartoon appearance accurate to the vintage toy or do they be a mixture of both ending up being accurate to neither. This was definitely the cast with Bebop and Rocksteady. But regardless they still turned out very nice figures.
As for Pixel Dan’s reviews. I like them but they can be very nit picky…especially when the Mattel logo isn’t on the package. 
TheFiguarts look very cool.
The paint and scale factor is more in keeping the figures in the line all the same price and affordable for children collecting the line. Which I can understand but yeah it would have been awesome for some of the characters like Dogpound and Leatherheaad to have been a lot bigger.
Mark, I disagree with you here, Pixel Dan is very nit picky YES, but not only with the “NON MATTEL” stuff … he is very nit picky about MOTUC and he will defiantly point out all short comings and bad paint apps on these.
